Why Pilates?
Developed by Joseph Hubert Pilates in the 1920's, Pilates is designed to improve flexibility, strength, control and endurance in the whole body.

It places an emphasis on developing a strong core, often referred to as the 'powerhouse', which includes the muscles of the abdomen, back and hips. This aids stability and alignment within the body.

Each movement is designed to engage the body correctly to maximise the effectiveness of the muscles involved. The quality and consistency of the movement are key to Pilates. Each exercise has several different layers to enable each individual to work at a level that suits their own body.

Pilates is a fantastic activity to help build an understanding of how your body moves. I encourage you to connect with your body and explore how Pilates principles can translate into your day to day movements to keep you free of injury and living well!
